Lately, it seems that many people in this industry forget how important it is to build relationships. It’s not just about relationships within your company, but relationships between advertisers and publishers. It can really make the difference between being a star quarterback, or a 3rd string bench-warmer.

 

Having a great relationship goes way beyond just getting the top performing offers out to your publishers, or bigger budgets, or even guaranteed money like CPM’s, it’s about building a bond with your client. Knowing their traffic type and what they do best is a great starting point, but really getting to know your client is learning about what they like to do for fun, their relationship/family status, what their favorite bands are, etc. Being this dedicated to your client means they will be that dedicated to you. When someone takes the time to really get to know who they’re working with, they stand above the crowd, really getting themselves noticed, and that earns them the one thing that everyone is looking for, trust. Earning the trust of your client means they will pretty much do anything you ask, because they know you have their best interest in mind. It also means that you’ll never have to worry about a malicious compliance violation, because honestly, who wants to ruin a great thing just for a couple of extra bucks?

If you’re noticing that you’re not getting replies back, or promises are not being fulfilled, it’s time to go back to the basics and really build that relationship. Once you do, you’ll notice a big difference in response, which will translate into more money for everyone!
